Meditational Art and Poetry Honshin’s art and poetry are a result of his experience with and continual study of Eastern and Western spiritual practices, the perennial philosophies of Christianity, Tibetan & Zen Buddhism, and the Meso - American cultures. Honshin’s work is a mythic amalgamation of the healing practices & their symbols with the present trends in spirituality & science – resulting in a fusion of the traditional with the modern - highlighting the natural harmony of the beliefs and practices of east and west. His work represents the transformation of perennial philosophies & symbols into modern images of the transcendent experience. Beginning in 2001 through 2010 Honshins work has been merged with the teachings and poetry of Thich Nhat Hanh resulting a series of calendars, datebooks, journals & note cards that inspire and guide people worldwide to practice the principals of compassion, love, kindness and the joy of living in the present moment. Honshin is also working on his fourth poem book “In the Garden of My Heart” - 108 of his images and poems offered to the celebration of life. History At the age of (5) Honshin started painting in his father’s studio, by the age of 17- gifted both in the arts and the sciences - he made the choice to dedicate himself to art and the energies of creativity through his painting and poetry. At the University of Washington he studied Tibetan Buddhist scriptures, art & language. He then traveled for more than a decade, often living in isolation and seclusion in wilderness areas of the Southwest, continuing to paint, study and meditate - one of his first series of paintings celebrated art & math through geometry and the ancient way of the mandala. Honshin has won international recognition for his art and poetry which serves as a mirror for the healing beauty and interconnectedness of all peoples and cultures in the universe. |
